Businesses often support the right, but the media often supports the left

Left wingers lament the money poured into right wing parties. Many accuse the right of “buying” the election. It’s true that the wealthy contribute more cash to the right, but lots of evidence says NZ’s MSM leans left. What’s that coverage, which the media essentially gifts leftwing parties, worth if it had to be purchased?

Does saying it louder and more often make it true?

Leftwing parties accuse rightwing parties of race-baiting because the right is campaigning against co-governance. Without the race based co-governance, which the left is pushing, where does the conversation have anything to do with race? The MSM seems willing to spread the left’s smears of race-baiting, without readily acknowledging co-governance is a highly contentious issue.

RNZ publishes an anonymous claim that Auckland water rates will double without 3 Waters. The headline reads as pure politics. Auckland is already big enough to realise any potential savings or financing advantage from scale. The “savings” from proposed 3 Waters are really a “buy now, pay later” plan which can work without 3 Waters.

National and Labour are not very similar, this election

Many Kiwis say the Labour Party and National Party are more similar than different. Perhaps that was true for some elections, but this time there is a stark choice between the two. Differences include: co-governance, wokism, workers’ rights, degree of central control, amount of government and law and order. Also, the minor parties aligned with each major party are going to pull them further apart.

Tension, violence and finger pointing on the campaign trail

Parties report encountering anger, threats, violence and vandalising in their election campaigns. Opposing parties are usually blamed. Sometimes it seems like the claims are trumped up for the sympathy vote. Trans activist Eli Rubashkyn is involved in defacing election billboards after asking for leniency for throwing soup at Posie Parker.

There is an increase in excess deaths, but what’s causing it?

There is an increase in all cause mortality in many countries. According to publicly available data, NZ is also experiencing a rise in excess deaths. The debate rages over whether the excess deaths are caused by the vaccine or long COVID. Why is there no definitive study to settle the debate?
