Media obsession on coalition talks encourages pointless speculation

Why does the media fixate on coalition speculation when the answer will be known shortly? Some things will definitely change under the new government, including the push of Labour’s interpretation of the Treaty. Yet, it appears that legacy media would rather encourage avoiding Treaty issues than explaining both sides of the argument. A Recent Court of Appeal decision raises concerns over coastal control. The Marine and Coastal Area Act (MACA) enables Customary Marine Titles (CMTs) to Māori applicants. CMT grants commercial rights, resource consent influence, and local activity authority. Lowered CMT requirements, involving tikanga, shared exclusivity, and revised property rights, may enable hundreds of applications.

Many investors don’t want companies that offer opinions on issues not central to their business, and are choosing financial results over ideology.
